Scarstory

- Scarsick?
- What the fuck does that even mean?
- Are you like sick of scars? Are scars making you sick or is it some sickness with many scars?
- Who cares?!

If something sounds great, why get an itch in your crotch for it? Same goes with our music. We don't analyze, we just do it and it sounds great. Of course we think about the songs, the structures and those little nipple-twisters for your delight but we don't overdo it, like some nerds. We do have a certain sound but it's not planned. Basically it's the sound that comes out when we plug in and rock as well as we can. We play music to let the feelings, the thoughts, the moods, the questions...everything out. So stop right there with the analyzing process, toss that Château de wanker, and just listen...

So you wanna know more about the band, in flesh, don't you? STALKER!!! (I meant that in a good way). Well first of all, "it all started when we were little kids..." OK, I was about to lie.

For real, it started in the spring of '06, or as I like to call it: The spring O'shit! Three guys in Limbo were bored to the bone. And I mean this. I was fucking bored and my dear friend Henri was possibly even more bored. My other half Ville, well to be honest, I don't know how bored he was but I do know he was floating in some strange waters that time.

We had the choice to either stay floating in boredom or to do something creative... swim like maniacs so to speak. And swim we did! We started planning and doing all kinds of stuff, exchanging ideas and busting each others balls more than usual. As a result we reached the shore in the late 2006 on a demo disc called Little Princess, which is the first actual proof of Scarsick's existence. So if you don't have it, be sure to download it.

After the birth of our princess came yet another spring and NO...I don't have a funny name for it (actually I thought about spring O'shaven as in seven but hey, enough is enough).

The spring quickly found its way to summer and Ville and Henri actually wrote a lot of stuff during that time. But that "stuff" took its time and so did we as individuals. As the fall fell upon us we were ready to record some new songs for you all, and of course for ourselves.

Now here we are in the beginning of the year 2008 and we have a new demo titled Hide fresh and ready for your ears to enjoy. But Hide isn't the only thing we've kept hidden... We now have a new lead singer in our band! This fine gentleman goes by the name Ilmo Ylinärä and he's a very dear friend of ours and one HELL of a singer. We are proud and happy to have him in our band.

As for the future, we will be rehearsing old and new material, doing some gigs, keeping this website active and enjoying life!!!

I have always liked music, in its different forms. In 1994 I started to play French Horn in Vaasa and I played it almost ten years. I started to sing, I guess, in 2002 when me and my friends formed a band. Since that I've been singing in different places and bands, styles from jazz to heavy. Nowadays I live in Helsinki and I study in the local pop&jazz conservatoire, hoping to become a better singer.

I dunno, if You're interested, but here are a few of my influences: Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr Bungle), Devin Townsend, Opeth, Pain Of Salvation, Katatonia, Meshuggah, Ulver, Nile, Incubus, Guns N' Roses, NIN, Thal, Leka, Teemu, Simppa, Henbeat, Snekka, Zata, The Funkin' Funksters, Arcturus, Lamb Of God, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Porcupine Tree, MF Doom

I've been noodling around with my six-string since I was 8 years old. Starting out with the monsters of heavy rock like Metallica, Black Sabbath and Mötorhead, I've since then explored the world of metal, progressive rock, rhythm & blues, jazz and what not. And came up with almost nothing useful to play.

You may (or may not) want to know something about my influences; First of all, Steve Lukather is the man and the ruler of the universe known to man. That guy sure knows how to drop a girl's pants with his playing and singing. I also look up to such musicians as Robben Ford, John Mayer, Marzi Nyman, Steve Vai, Corey Taylor, Mike Patton, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Dream Theater (the list could go on forever)

My ambitions are to write and play kick-ass music with my brothers and shove it down to the ear canals of all the rock'n roll fans out there.

"I should have let you know
this boy was made to roam
the band is who I'm married to
and this is what God said to do" -Kiedis

I don't know about that god-stuff but everything else in and between those lines ring quite true. I think this is my calling and I really like what I do. I love my band.

Everything in this life has an influence on me and my playing. Still... my biggest inspirations are my friends. They make the good things come out. And yes, I like to hit hard!

It was year 1999, I think, when I got my first Roland synth and started pushing the buttons to hear all sorts of cool sounds. Since then I've upgraded that Roland to a Kurzweil and I think my skills have gotten some upgrade, as well. I was introduced to rock music by my big brother when I was like seven years old and I think it was Megadeth and Metallica which got me into this kinda stuff. Fortunately I have diversified my likings since then, and I like to listen stuff from jazz to Meshuggah nowadays.

After those progressive phases and attempts to play too difficult songs for my skills, I finally kind of settled down and started really focusing into arranging the keyboards and making them sound meaningful. Nowadays my musical sessions consist mostly of song-writing and soundscape explorations.

As for my influences, worth mentioning are at least Clint Mansell, Meshuggah, Foo Fighters, Angelo Badalamenti, Pink Floyd, The Dillinger Escape Plan, John Zorn, Mike Patton and Reflexion.

I also play alto saxophone (and additional keyboards) in Random Mullet and keyboards in Catastrophe. Check 'em out.
